CUPID’S DOUBLE-EDGED ARROW

Carved your dreams into my skin;

Came to life as the ink

Pumped your addictive essence

Into heart’s malleable coat of rippling bone,

Sacrificed me to insomnia

And parted with a bare kiss

The taste of which turned my mind

Into a parched hound

Good for nothing but a vicious growl,

And when the Moon tore

A hole of light in

The cover of the

Night

Your cherry-coated lips

Sought me out

Along with playful fingertips,

Then as the beast you so craved

Dove between parted legs

Your helpless elation

Shattered the

Monster

With one expectant scowl,

You never dreamed of my willing nudge

Until you overindulged

On pretence’s traitorous

Drag.
