BODY OF YOU

Fell for religion

When it knocked me to my knees;

Let it rip epiphany

From clarity’s slackening grip,

Lost my mind to senses;

Gasped as they overflowed

And drowned

Having first spluttered when the bitterness

With which you bind the hushed whispers within

This godforsaken room

Enveloped my tongue,

Built a mighty cathedral

With blood’s polishing glide

And let the dome caress Heaven’s reflection

Of your eyes,

Fled from your thunderous

Temper’s storm

When sinful thoughts lured me with the promise of more;

Elbows grated on stone

As my body became yours

Tongue dancing around

Foreign words

As we mix

Religion

With

Love.
