GETAWAY FROM ME

Lived with the scent of guilt

For so long

That I find myself paralysed

When it’s gone,

Anosmia

Engulfs me like the

Cloak

You once wove to protect your

Naked state

From the penetrative

Mechanisms of

My snout,

In a heap I lie

Repenting

For chasing you

Away once again

By yearning to be a burly man

So other nymphs

Would peer at me and see a vision

They might crave,

Despicable

Is what you call me

In the dark

With the candle’s erratic tongue

Flickering over our

Parted mouths,

And true love

In the fiction

You blame

For the sped up

Dissolution

Of affection’s once steady

Gaze.
