Grew out your hair

And scrawled prayers

Into the dents I left

Across your heart

And between your legs,

Stripped all colour from your lips

Diluted morphine into your irises

And snarled at the sweetness

You sought out

With a lazy tongue,

Cut out an organ

In my limp body

With sharpened bones

And wilted devotion,

Fattened me up on the

Cloying richness of your

Nut-brown gaze;

Frantic hands slipping

On the honeyed paint,

Still felt you inside me

As you drank the marrow

From deep within,

I lie in your arms

And pray to have left you

For a while.
